FAQ

Common questions

Do I need a referral?
Yes. With a valid OHIP card, you need a referral from your family doctor or a walk-in clinic. If you do not have an OHIP card, please call our office for more information.
How does skin prick testing work?
We place small amounts of allergens on the skin and watch for a reaction. It is quick, and most people feel only a light prick.
Do I need to stop any medications before testing?
Often yes. Certain medications, such as antihistamines, usually need to be stopped about 5 days before testing. Our team will confirm what applies to you.
What is immunotherapy?
Immunotherapy uses regular, controlled exposure to an allergen, by shots or tablets, to train the body to react less over time.
How long is the wait for an appointment?
New appointments are typically booked within about 8 to 12 weeks after we receive a referral.
Do you see children?
Yes. We care for infants, children, and adolescents as well as adults, with both pediatric and adult allergy expertise.
I do not live near the GTA. Can you still help?
Yes. Our virtual clinic can assess you and arrange local blood work, then review results during a virtual follow-up. In-person testing is arranged when needed.
How do I prepare for my first visit?
Bring your health card, your referral details, a list of your medications, and notes on your symptoms and their timing. We will tell you in advance if anything needs to be paused.
